12/31/13 For the past 7 or 8 years employees with the Plymouth Park Department have provided snow plowing services for the sidewalks on North Michigan Street from Klinger Street to north of the US 30 overpass. This was part of the agreement for the northern gateway project several years ago.
On Monday, Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter told members of the Board of Public Works and Safety that he completed the job of personally hand delivering letters to the businesses on both sides North Michigan Street. The letters were given to businesses and informed property owners that city employees are no longer providing snow shoveling services to the sidewalks out front of their businesses.
In other business the Board of Public Works and Safety approved a reimbursement of a building permit issued to All American Exteriors. Plymouth Building Commissioner Keith Hammonds said the permit had been issued and a few weeks later the homeowner selected another contractor for the job.
Fire Chief Rod Miller read a letter of resignation from Madelyn Johns who provides clerical services to the fire department and the building commissioner. Her resignation is effective January 31, 2014. Chief Miller was given permission to begin the hiring process for the clerical position.
Police Chief Dave Bacon told members of the Board of Public Works and Safety that the application process for patrol officers has not had much interest. He said he has extended the deadline for applications to January 6th. Chief Bacon said they have about 15 applications as this time.
