10/01/13 The annual meeting of the Marshall County Community Foundation was last week at the Weidner School of Inquiry inside Plymouth High School.
Prior to the meeting, tours of the facility were given by students enrolled in the project based learning institute and hors d’oeuvers were served. Students also presented a recent project they completed in their Food/Chem class creating new snacks in the cafeteria for next year that meet federal guidelines.
Jerry Gates, Chairman of the Board of Director for the Community Foundation welcomed those gathered and invited Dr. Rev. Ronald Liechty to give the invocation for the evening. Before Liechty could leave the podium, former MCCF Board Chair Louise Mason recognized him with the first-time Leadership Marshall County (LMC) Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Liechty has been nominated as Leader of the Year several years in a row at the conclusion of the LMC Program for his long-time community service but was never the recipient. “He’s contributed so much that Leader of the Year didn’t cover it!” Mason said listing his extensive achievements with perhaps the completion of the Community Resource Center his proudest and most enduring. That project, it was noted during the evening, was accomplished with financial assistance of MCCF.
