11/02/12 Indiana residents are reminded that this is the weekend they should turn their clocks back to mark this year’s end of daylight-saving time. The change to standard time occurs at 2 a.m. Sunday. But most folks will “fall back” and set their clocks back one hour before they go to bed Saturday night to make sure they’re in synch with their neighbors on Sunday morning.

Daylight saving time returns at 2 a.m. local time the second Sunday in March.

The State Fire Marshal’s Offices says each time-change is a good time for residents to put a new battery in their home’s smoke alarms.

Residents in Marshall County are encouraged to Fall Back on the sound advice of the State Fire Marshal. When it’s time to change your clock you should also change the batteries in your smoke alarm as the nation moves back to Standard Time beginning this weekend.  The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) encourages you to mark the occasion as a time to test your home smoke alarms too.

Every day in the United States, needless home fire deaths occur. Working smoke alarms significantly increase your chance of surviving a deadly home fire. A properly installed and maintained smoke alarm is the only thing in your home that can alert you and your family to a fire 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whether you’re awake or asleep, a working smoke alarm is constantly on alert scanning the air for fire and smoke.
