On Monday the Marshall County Commissioners extended the Public Health Disaster Emergency Declaration for another seven days, or until Tuesday, December 29th. This marks the 10th consecutive week the county has been under the declaration.
The declaration allows the county to authorize any protection necessary for the protection of the citizens in Marshall County.
While the resolution specifically orders office holders and employees to comply with emergency measures, it also requests citizens to follow any mandates and recommendations set forth by county officials including the commissioners and county health officer.
During Monday’s commissioner meeting, President Kevin Overmyer took a few minutes to say some special thanks. He said, “It’s been a heck of a year. 2020 will probably be something that we hopefully will never have to live through again, but we don’t know what 2021 will bring.” He said last week the State Board of Health said Marshall County had the lowest positivity rate in the state for a 7-day period. He went on to say, “I would like to publically thank the citizens of Marshall County. Thank our business owners, I know it has not been an easy task, but we do appreciate it and we want to recognize the individual businesses, the corporate businesses and the citizens of Marshall County that have helped us to reach that goal.” Overmyer also took time to thank department heads, office holders and the county employees for their efforts dealing with COVID.
