05/27/11 Citizens of Marshall County are invited to attend the Memorial Day Services at the Court House, Yellow River Bridge and Oak Hill Cemetery on Monday, May 30th

The American Legion Post 27, local VFW Home and Marshall County Chapter 42 of the DAV will be conducting Memorial Day ceremonies a several locations in Plymouth on Monday.  Beginning at 10 a.m. a ceremony will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial at the southeast corner of the Court House.  The newly landscaped site will have the various service flags and there will be a special presentation on Monday from Congressman Joe Donnelly’s office of an American Flag that had flown over our Nation’s Capitol.  There will also be the placement of wreaths for the various wars. 

Approximately 10:30 a memorial service will be conducted at the Yellow River Bridge on South Michigan Street for those veterans who have been buried at sea.

The final ceremony will take place at the Oak Hill Cemetery beginning at 11 a.m.   Father Kummer from St. Michael Catholic Church will officiate the service and three former members of the PHS band will play the national anthem.  The American Legion, VFW, and DAV will perform a 21-gun salute and Taps.

Commander Master Chief E-9 Navy Retired Steve Beam will be the guest speaker for the ceremony.
