local News_2Members of the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety ratified an executive order during Monday night’s meeting pertaining to parking on Miller Drive.

City Attorney Sean Surrisi reminded board members of the decision last year to restrict parking on both sides of Miller Drive during the construction phase of the aquatic center and daycare center with United Way and Community Foundation.

Earlier this month the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremonies were held at all three locations and Mayor Senter initiated an executive order to allow parking on the north side of Miller Drive to allow the public a place to park, especially since the parking lot at the aquatic center has not been completed yet.

With the plans of a hotel locating just to the west of the pool the proposed parking area will be used to stage construction material on that space.  Surrisi said construction activity could degrade the parking lot so the plan is to wait to complete the park lot until later in the spring after the hotel is underway.  The city attorney noted that the Plymouth Board of Zoning Appeals approved a variance extending the time limit for installation of the parking lot.

The executive order will remain in place to allow parking on the north side of Miller Drive for patrons using the pool.
