Blueberry_Round-Color-LogoThis year’s Marshall County Blueberry Festival will feature a few new things that folks should be aware of.

On Saturday, August 31st the American Red Cross will be conducting a bloodmobile with their portable unit that will be parked on Randolph Street near the amphitheatre.

According to a 2019 survey conducted on behalf of the Red Cross, clothes (69%), money (63%) and food (51%) are the primary ways that the public has donated to help others in the past year.  Only 3% of people in the U.S. gave blood.  The majority of the public hasn’t thought of how people needing a blood transfusion or blood for operations can benefit from a donation of blood during this time of need.  Donating blood makes a big difference in the “Lives of Others.”   Call 1-800-RED-Cross or go online to www.redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment.  Walk-in will also be welcome.

Another new feature will be two Nursing Stations.  One of the Nursing Stations will be located inside the front doors of Jefferson Elementary School and the second will be located in a converted trailer in the grassy area north of Nixon Field. The Nursing Stations will offer mothers a separate air conditioned location for nursing and also diaper changing.

B & C Furry Laser Tag, Marshall County’s #1 laser tag company will bring their fun to the Pony League Baseball diamond at the front of the park.  Participants wear infrared-sensitive targets and players use guns which fire infrared beams.   No physical contact between players is allowed and it is a game that single or family members can play to have great fun together.  There is an admission to play.
