City NEwsThe City of Plymouth’s Board of Public Works and Safety meeting was cancelled for Monday evening due to the lack of a quorum.  Council members Shiloh Fonseca, Shawn Grobe and Jeff Houin were absent from the meeting last night.

Mayor Mark Senter noted, “This is the first time in 9 ½ year we haven’t had a city meeting because the lack of a quorum.”

Because the city’s business must be attended to, the majority of the Board of Works items were moved over to the City Council meeting.

Bids were opened for the Richter Road water main extension project.  Four companies submitted bids for the project with the lowest one being from Haskins Underground of Plymouth at $124,605 and the highest bid being $257,812 from HRP Construction from South Bend.  The bids were taken under-advisement for review and a recommendation at the next city meeting.

City Attorney Sean Surrisi said the bid opening for the City Hall Renovation Project will be opened at the Redevelopment Commission meeting Tuesday, July 18th at 5:30 in the Council Chambers of City Hall.  Surrisi noted that many of the contractors interested in the project have had a hard time getting numbers from their sub-contractors due to the 4th of July midweek holiday.

The City Council did award the new ambulance chassis after Fire Chief Rod Miller reviewed the bids.  Crossroads Ambulance Service from Middlebury was the low bidder at $186,806.
