Miller's_volunteer banquet May 2017“WE TREASURE OUR VOLUNTEERS” was theme chosen for the annual Miller’s Senior Living Community 2017 Volunteer Banquet.   The assisted Living and the nursing facility activity departments joined forces in choosing the theme and decorating the Oak Hill Café where the banquet was help on Wednesday, May 31, at 6:00 p.m.

Treasure chests overflowing with gems, coins and candy decorated the tables as the volunteers entered the café.  Assisted Living Life Enrichment Director Cindy Flagg welcomed the volunteers and their guests as they were seated.  Flagg led the group in prayer after which all were encouraged to partake of the delicious buffet meal provided by the assisted living dietary department.

After the meal Flagg took time to speak about each of her volunteers individually while Director of Marketing Anna Corbett presented each volunteer with a Certificate of Appreciation and a small token of gratitude.  Miller’s Merry Manor Life Enrichment Director April Cooper did the same for her volunteers along with Corbett’s help.

Flagg and Cooper both thanked the volunteers from the bottom of their hearts and expressed how their programs work so much better with volunteers.  Flagg remarked that there is no volunteer job too small told how important it is to have an extra set of eyes and hands during activities and Cooper expressed the importance of those who provide ”spiritual care”  for the Miller’s residents.  Other volunteer jobs include:  visiting one on one, helping with BINGO, birthday parties, and happy hour, acting as chaperone on bus trips, reading to vision impaired residents and many other activities.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer may find out more information by calling April Cooper at 936-9981 or Cindy Flagg at 936-9801.
