A two vehicle crash Friday morning about 8:30 on State Road 17 diverted traffic for a while as emergency responded had to extricate one of the victims from the crash site.
County Police Officer Joe Giordano investigated the crash and determined that 65 year old Jewel M. Stone of Plymouth was west bound in a 2011 black Jeep Liberty preparing to turn north onto Sheryl Court. A tan 2001 Chevy Cavalier driver by 29 year old Christin J. Belcher of Knox was east bound and as she crested a hill, lost control of her vehicle and drove into the westbound lane striking the Jeep Liberty.
Both vehicles sustained severe damage from the impact and Belcher was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for severe injuries. Ms. Stone was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Plymouth Fire and EMS and the Indiana State Police.
