11/08/13 A report of a student with a knife at Lincoln Junior High School in Plymouth on Wednesday prompted an immediate investigation. According to LJH Principal, Reid Gault, students at the school reported that they had seen a pocket knife that another student had taken from his pocket to open a box.

Gault said the knife was confiscated and the student was removed from the school.

Gault said, “No kids were in danger.” “From the time the report was made and we had the student’s parent in the office, it was within 30-45 minutes.” Gault said.

Gault said, “The safety of the (approximately) 600 kids in the school, our administrators, teachers, and staff are our number one interest.”

Gault notified parents of the students enrolled in LJH in a letter saying, in part, “At Lincoln Junior High School we are constantly teaching students the values of our Storm Watch Program which are to be Respectful, Responsible, Positive and Safe.” He added, “Our students practiced these characteristics today by reporting something that they knew was not safe.” “As always our best line of defense against students making poor choices is other students making the correct choice.”

During the investigation the corporations’ Resource Officer, Ted Brown, and Director of Safety, James Phillips, were contacted.

Gault said that they consider each situation seriously. “We have the full cooperation of the parent and the student and will provide help in an appropriate way.”

In the letter to the parents, Gault said they could contact the school with questions or concerns.
