03/06/13 The Plymouth Park Board met Monday evening at 5 p.m. in the lower-level of the Conservation Club House since the wood floors upstairs were being refinished.

City attorney Sean Surrisi updated members on the River Park Square project.  Before the city can advertise for construction bids a Common Construction Wage meeting must be held to determine the wages that will be paid on the project.  A wage meeting is scheduled for Wednesday with the first advertisement being run next Monday.  Surrisi said the Redevelopment Commission will hold a special meeting the first week of April and then during their regular meeting on April 16th it is expected that they will award the construction bid.

The city attorney said Jackson Services was awarded the demolition with the low bid of $42,000 which is well below the estimated $50-$70,000.  The fuel tank on the LaPorte Street property will be pumped on Wednesday and the asbestos remediation is scheduled to start this week. It is anticipated that demolition will begin on the 16th.

In other business the Plymouth Park Board approved the 2013 American Legion Baseball contract as well as the request of Webster PTO to have a Family Pool Pass for the silent auction at their upcoming Fun Fair on April 26th.  A request from Song Birds of Northern Indiana to have the fee waived for use of the Freyman Shelter for a fundraising walk on June 15th was approved and so was the Plymouth Public Library’s request to have free use of the Hoosier Old Wheels Shelter on July 10th for their annual Bubble Day event. It was also noted that Menominee Elementary will have a dance marathon on April 19th from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Young Amphitheater.
