Starke County Sheriff DeptFollowing an investigation by the Starke County Sheriff’s Department and the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office, charges were filed against the mother of an infant found left unattended in a vehicle.

On February 5th the Starke County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the area of 250 W. and 500 S. to a vehicular accident.  When officers arrived on the scene they located an infant strapped in a car seat in the back seat of the vehicle but no driver was located.  The child was transported to Starke Hospital and treated for frostbite.

24 year old Shayna Madison of North Judson, mother of the infant was charged with a single count of neglect of a dependant which is a level 5 felony.

The Department of Child Services has taken custody of the infant.
