02/13/13 Tuesday evening Plymouth Airport Manager, Dave Lattimer told Aviation Board members that Monday night the City Council approved and second and third readings an ordinance that will allow the ABC (Aviation Board of Commissioners) to lease a spot of ground for private individuals to build private hangers. The ordinance amendment authorizes the Aviation Board to enter into a long-term lease for a period that would not exceed 99 years. The change would allow for permanent structures paid for by a private individual for private use only.
Lattimer told the Common Council that the airport has been approached by several individuals interested in building private hangers. He said it’s obvious the need for additional hangers due to a hanger waiting list for the last two years.
The Aviation Board is looking at the south side of the airport for the private hangers although they will need to seek an easement from the Storage Units for access to the property. The roadway that was placed in the Greenlee administration was in the airport clear zone and has never been used to access.
The ABC’s engineering consultants will assist in determining the correct location for building and the FAA must also approve the buildings.
