10/21/10 Ancilla College students, faculty, and staff raised over $3,600 for its annual United Way pledge drive, the College announced on Tuesday.
According to figures, that amount marks a 55 percent increase in fundraising over last year’s pledge drive.
The pledge drive, which concluded October 15, included two weeks of on-campus events in efforts to raise funds for the United Way of Marshall County.
As part of the pledge drive, the College offered numerous events on campus to help raise money for United Way, including such activities as a corn hole tournament, a three-legged race, a potato sack race, and an “Ancilla’s Got Talent” event.
Ancilla College President Dr. Ron May also joined in on the spirit of the pledge drive, honoring his promise to kiss a cow if the College received 100 percent participation from all full time faculty and staff.
“This year’s involvement exceeded our expectations,” said Sam Soliman, one of the organizers of the pledge drive. “We’re proud that all full time staff and faculty contributed and we’re equally excited by the level of student involvement. Dr. May was such a good sport. The whole thing generated a lot of excitement around here. I hope others in the community follow suit, perhaps even find creative ways to raise funds for United Way. We are hoping that the United Way will exceed its expectations for this year in order to continue supporting such great and worthy causes.”
Ancilla College is a Catholic, two-year, co-educational, liberal arts college in Donaldson, Indiana sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
