06/05/12 Monday, Joe Donnelly, candidate for U.S. Senate, announced that he will vote for a bill to repeal the medical device excise tax, which is scheduled to go into effect in 2013.  He has been a co-sponsor of this bill since October 2011.

“I will be supporting the repeal of the medical device tax because this industry has a great impact on Indiana’s economy,” said Donnelly.  “The medical device industry provides good-paying jobs to tens of thousands of Hoosiers, and I think we must ensure this industry continues to thrive.

We are facing too much partisan bickering in Washington these days, so I am pleased that both Republicans and Democrats came together to sponsor this legislation.  I ask lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to come together in a bipartisan way and support the repeal of this tax.”

The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote to repeal the medical device tax later this week.
