03/15/12 Owners of Treat’s Squire Shop to be Honored at SJRMC/Plymouth’s ‘Catch the Spirit’ Gala April 20
Tickets are now available for Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center’s 15th Annual Catch the Spirit Gala, which will be held on Friday, April 20, at the Swan Lake Golf Resort in Plymouth. As one of the premier events in Marshall County each year, tickets should be purchased early to insure a seat.
This year’s Gala will honor long-time residents and business owners, Ajean and Budd Treat with the Community Spirit Award. The Community Spirit Award is given to Marshall County residents who exemplify the spirit of Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center: passionate giving, enthusiastic service and compassionate care.
Ajean and Budd Treat have made Plymouth and Marshall County their home, while building a true community institution, Treat’s Squire Shop. When Budd Treat opened the store in 1966, he immediately became involved through the Chamber of Commerce and United Way. Over the years, both Budd and Ajean continued their civic involvement while providing fine menswear throughout northern Indiana and the Chicago area. Ajean and Budd have enjoyed making Marshall County a great place to live and work. Budd joined the Moose Lodge, American Legion and Shriners. Ajean joined Tri-Kappa, the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. For almost a half century, they have been supportive through their gift of time, talent and treasure.
Proceeds from the Catch the Spirit Gala will benefit SJRMC’s Community Health Services for the poor and underserved in Marshall County. These many programs provide free medical care and prescription medication assistance to patients in need, as well as mobile health screenings and health fairs. The most commonly known community health program in Marshall County is the Saint Joseph Health Center on Washington Street, which provides primary health services to the local community.
Each year, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center provides millions of dollars of free healthcare services, and in 2011, the Plymouth campus provided more than $1.76 million dollars in charity care and programs for the poor.
