The Marshall County Neighborhood Center held their major fundraiser of the year on Saturday at the Swan Lake Resort.  Dancing With the Stars has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the non-profit and has sold out the last several years.

This year was no exception.  With a packed house, 10 dancing teams took to the hardwood floor in an attempt to raise addition funds and share their talents.

The evening included fine food, a live auction and lots of fun. When it was all over and the money was counted, Dancing with the Stars raised $129,069.28!

Getting people to put themselves out there to dance is a challenge Executive Director of the Neighborhood Center, Chris Garner says.  This year she took it upon herself to step out of her comfort zone and be one of the dancers.  Dancing with her friend Allison Stone and choreographer Eleanor Longacre, they took first place.

From the Neighborhood Center’s Facebook page, Garner wanted to send her thanks to all those involved and said, “I wanted to say THANK YOU! There are so many people that pull together to make this happen. We have a great committee: Gennifer Blake Schaefer, Tammy Parker Bowling and Carol Brown work tirelessly to help make this event successful. The Marshall County Neighborhood Center Board gives extra time and energy during this event. The MCNC staff and volunteers work tirelessly. The dancer worked hard to learn their dances and rallied their friends and families to vote. The choreographers that donate their time to make this event possible. Then there are the guests; those of you that purchase tickets, tables, votes, auction items and cheer the dancers on, this event is successful because of your participation. The Center is able to serve this community because of YOU!! Thank you for being amazing Neighborhood Partners that remain the cornerstones of the Center.”`
