Lancers get a win over Triton
LAKEVILLE – The junior varsity basketball team played host to Triton in the first round of the 55th Annual TCU Bi-County Basketball Tournament Monday.
The Trojans came out hot, hitting four first-quarter 3-pointers and hitting eight field goals overall to take a 20-12 lead.
LaVille tried to rally but fell short in a 48-34 loss to Triton.
The Lancers pressed and scrambled in the final quarter to outscore the Trojans, 18-6, but it wasn’t quite enough.
Evan Wilfing led the LaVille with 11 points, two assists, and two steals. Wilfing had nine points in the crucial third-quarter run. Dawson Beam added nine points and a couple of steals and Joe Cruz came off the bench to score five points and lead the rebounding effort with five. Beam and Alex Menting also took a charge for the Lancers.
LaVille, now 2-9 overall, will play host to Career Academy of South Bend on Tuesday, January 28. The JV game will tip at 6 p.m., with the varsity to follow.
