Pilgrims advance doubles team to final
NAPPANEE – The NLC Tennis Tournament continued Thursday evening at Northwood High School. The Pilgrims advanced all five of their players to the semi-finals with wins Wednesday night. The Pilgrims were not so fortunate Thursday night as only the #1 Doubles team advanced to the championship round.
Drew Harrell and Adam Hunter playing at #1 Doubles for the Pilgrims won over their Concord opponent 6-3, 7-5. They will be playing against the #1 seed Northwood tandem Saturday morning.
Grant Houin playing at #1 singles lost to his Northwood opponent 6-0, 6-1. He plays for 3rd place Saturday against a Goshen opponent.
Nic Bagley fell in a close match with his Goshen opponent 7-5, 6-1. Playing at #2 singles, Nic will be playing for 3rd place against his Warsaw opponent.
At #3 singles, Bennett Christy lost to his Concord opponent 6-0, 6-0. He will play for 3rd place Saturday against his Northridge opponent.
Ethan Strain and Hugh Smith lost in a tense match at #2 doubles 7-6, 4-6, and 6-2 to their Northridge opponent. They will be playing for 3rd place against their Concord opponent.
The Championship round takes place Saturday morning starting at 9 a.m. This round will be held at Concord High School.
