Centennial Park_front gatePlymouth Park Superintendent Mike Hite was given the go-ahead to advertise for seasonal help during Monday’s Park Board meeting.

Hite said spring break is almost here and kids in high school and college will begin looking for summer employment.

The park department will be hiring 18 to 25 lifeguards, 8 day camp helpers and 5 to 7 maintenance workers.  Students and adults can apply in person at the park office in Centennial Park or the application is available on the park’s website.

In other business, Hite told the park board NCI (Northern Indiana Construction) has finished the bridge and most of the boardwalk and all of the railing on the second phase of the Greenway Trail.  Hite said, “There are a few things that obviously when we have walk through I want to go through.  I’d like to take some park board members and look at the concrete flooring that has been compromised in certain areas when they put them in and I don’t know what we do there.”

Hite said the Next Level Trails grant for Phase III of the Greenway Trail was submitted on February 15th.  This portion of the trail will go through River Park Square.

The Park Department is waiting on the contract for the Kayak launch to come back from INDOT.  They will then obtain the signature from Stone Ridge Landscaping.  This project will be completed this spring or early summer.
