Plymouth Fire Chief Rod Miller says the 4-alarm fire Tuesday night so thoroughly destroyed the building that a cause of the blaze cannot be determined.
Firefighters from Plymouth, Culver, Polk Township and Washington Township not only battled a fully engulfed barn fire about 10:45 Tuesday night, but the high wind gusts that caused the fire to rage out of control.
The structure was a storage barn with a shop area located at 7689 Rose Road and owned by Ken Rodgers.
Firefighters had to shuttle water from the Plymouth city limits to the site to battle the blaze. Chain-Of-Lake Service assisted fire fighters by bringing excavating equipment out to gain access to the interior of the structure and help get to “hot spots”.
Fire crews were on the scene till well after 2 a.m.
No injuries were reported and the building was a total loss.
