The reported battery and robbery that happened on the Greenway Trail in Plymouth on May 26th was a farce.

According the Detective Leo Mangus with the Plymouth Police Department, a through investigation was conducted and revealed that it was not a random assault that occurred but rather, an altercation that actually happened in the Town of Bourbon.

On the evening of May 26th the Plymouth Police Department was notified that a battery victim was being treated at the Plymouth Hospital. He told officers he had been walking on the Greenway Trail with his dog when a male suspect came out of the woods wearing a helmet and carrying a baseball bat. He said he was struck by the bat and when he fell to the ground two additional male suspects punch and kicked him and stole his wallet. He told police the suspects ran toward the back of Riverside Intermediate school and got into a green Ford pick up truck.

A report with this new information has been forwarded on to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office for review and potential charges.
