WarmUpMarshallCounty2015_TruckWhen one business’ generosity sparks another, amazing things can happen.  That’s what “Warm Up Marshall County” Coat Drive originator Steve Keiser had to say, as corporate sponsors Beacon Credit Union, Morrow Insurance and Oliver Ford joined forces for some power-shopping at the Plymouth WalMart on Monday morning.

WarmUpMarshallCounty2015_Morrow“Some of these children will have never owned a brand new coat of their own prior to this, and the thought of the joy that can bring?  It puts a big ol’ lump in my throat,” said Keiser.  “It feels good to know a little effort from each of us can make such a big difference in so many kids’ lives.”

“We have been doing this for 17 years”, said Keiser who pushed to start the drive.  “And each year I wonder if this will be the year we’ll have to turn kids away, but every year, our generous businesses and residents step up to the challenge!”

WarmUpMarshallCounty2015BeaconThe shopping spree netted 135 brand new coats for kids and young adults, a feat that could not have been possible without the generosity of WalMart, Morrow Insurance Agency, Beacon Credit Union, Oliver Ford Lincoln, and the support of hundreds throughout the community.

Xaver Cleaners also helped with the coat drive again this year, offering to provide cleaning services for only $4 per coat for pre-owned coats being donated.

WarmUpMarshallCounty2015_checkoutAll coats collected will be shared with those who most need them at the Plymouth National Guard Armory on Saturday, November 21st from 10 a.m. till noon and Sunday, November 22nd from noon until 2 p.m.   The National Guard generously donated their facilities once again to help “Warm Up Marshall County.”

Remember, anyone wishing to receive a coast must be present at the Armory, “Warm Up Marshall County” cannot allow people to pick up coats for those who will not come to the Armory themselves.

Any remaining coats after the distribution on Sunday will be taken to the Neighborhood Center to further help those most in need.
