PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Rockies hosted Tippy Valley Thursday night in a sectional head-to-head matchup. In the lone Junior Varsity matchup, Plymouth’s Luca Giordano won via pin-fall in the 2nd period.
The Rockies then honored their seniors Matthew McCrum, Justin Garrett, and Dominic Giordano before the varsity action kicked off.
The varsity dual started off at 170lbs where Plymouth’s Justin Garrett received a forfeit. At 182lbs Senior leader Matt McCrum snatched the momentum with a pinfall to make the match 12-0. Rockie freshman John Klinedinst took a forfeit at 195 lbs. Tippy Valley answered back with a pin at 220 lbs. Due to some injuries on both sides Plymouth received a forfeit at Heavyweight, Tippy took forfeits at 106 & 113, then Plymouth received 2 more forfeits at 120 and 126. At 132 lbs Tippy Valley battled out a highly contested match at 132 lbs winning 10-6 making the score, 36-21 in Plymouth’s favor. Another contested match at 138lbs where junior Seth Wright gutted out a Dec win 9-5. Undefeated Junior Wesley Smith elevated Plymouth’s score 6pts with the stick followed by Junior Caydn Smith snatching a pin of his own. In the last match of the night Tippy Valley answered back with a Major Dec. The final score was Plymouth 51 Tippy Valley 25.
