Emanuel Jossue Figueroa passed away comfortably in the arms of his mother and father on the morning of Wednesday April 24 at Riley Hospital for Children.

On Palm Sunday Sarah was airlifted to Riley children’s hospital where shortly after arriving, gave birth to Emanuel at only 29 weeks gestation. He was born with a rare disease called schaaf yang syndrome, an ultra-rare genetic mutation. The variant he had was the first of its kind. This caused him to be very sick but he fought hard every day.

Manny captured the hearts of his NICU nurses and doctors with his bright blonde hair and precious eyes that greeted each visitor with such love and kindness. Manny was a fighter and we will always remember those little eyes and all the personality they held.

Emanuel has taught us all that life is so precious and to choose to love every day as if it were your last.

We believe we will one day greet Emanuel in heaven and are looking forward to the day we can all be a family again. Until then we have comfort in knowing he’s in paradise with Jesus and looking over us all.

He is survived by his mother and father (Sarah Walker & Jose Figueroa), his sister (Sofia Figueroa), his aunt (Hannah Walker), his grandparents (Sheila and James Walker, Albertina and Aurelio Figueroa), his great grandmother (Vonda Tressler), and many others.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 1-3 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will immediately follow with Fr. Daniel Niezer officiating.

Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Memorial contributions may be given to Riley’s Children’s Foundation, 500 N. Meridian Street, Suite, 100, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
