Purdue University Extension in cooperation with Marshall County Farm Bureau and DeSchepper Farm Services is hosting a local Grain Storage and Safety training on August 20, 20222. The training is free to attend and will take place at the Houin Farm 7563 Plymouth Goshen Trail, Bremen IN 46506. 

The training will have two sessions. The morning session is geared toward First Responders and will start at 8:30 AM to 12PM with breakfast and lunch served. First Responders will get a summary of grain related entrapments, be provided rescue techniques, and go over safety equipment. The afternoon session will be geared toward farmers and discuss grain management and safety. Farmers are invited to join First Responders for the luncheon to share first hand experiences at 12PM. The training for farmers will follow from 1PM- 2PM.

The training course will be taught by Mike Manning, Purdue University Agricultural Safety Training Consultant. Mike started his Purdue Extension career as the ANR Educator in Perry County and Jasper County. Then he also served as the Northwest District Director before working on campus as Assistant Director for staff development. He has served Purdue Extension for over 31 years.
