State Representative Jake Teshka (R-North Liberty) issued the following statement Thursday in response to Amazon Web Services’ plan to invest $11 billion to build a data center campus in New Carlisle and create at least 1,000 new jobs. This planned investment marks the largest capital investment announcement in Indiana’s history. The new data centers will contain computer servers, data storage drives, networking equipment, other forms of technology infrastructure used to power cloud computing capabilities and generative artificial intelligence technologies.

“Our top-ranked business climate, ideal location and strong workforce continue to be a magnet for future-focused companies, and I couldn’t be more excited about North Central Indiana landing the biggest investment in our state’s history. Amazon Web Services will be a great partner for the state and our region, and their commitment boosts our reputation as a leader in the growing technology sector. This presents a tremendous opportunity, and the state will work with local leaders to make sure that the growth is accomplished in a sustainable way with residents’ concerns taken into account.”
