GOSHEN — The road to Bloomington and the IHSAA Track and Field State Championship Meet continued on Thursday night for six Lancers at the Goshen Regional Meet. LaVille was represented by Owen Smith, the lone runner in the 200M race. Joining Smith was the Sophomore pole vault duo of Lincoln Hulsey and Matthew Schaffer, Junior AJ Bedock in the discus, and the shot put pair of Sophomore, Erik Bedock, and Sectional Champion, Junior, Garrett Wagoner.
Lincoln Hulsey vaulted to a 3rd place finish with his 13’ attempt, which earned him a trip to the State Finals next Saturday. Matthew Schaffer finished pole vault in sixth place, with his 12’6” attempt. Smith ran a close 200M preliminary, but it would not be enough to advance to finals, his time would be the 9th fastest in the event.
The throwing duo of AJ Bedock (discus) and Wagoner (shot put) both made it out of the preliminary round, and finished 9th, one spot away from scoring.
Hulsey will vault in the state contest next Saturday at 3 p.m. at Indiana University’s Billy Hayes Stadium in Bloomington.
