County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters appeared before the Marshall County Commissioners Monday morning with an update on several bridge projects.

The 3-year contract with DLZ for the maintenance and monitoring of the mitigation site for Bridge #81 on Hickory Road is over.  Peters said the county still needs to watch the mitigation site until 2028.  He solicited quotes from Lochmueller and Cardno for the project.  The low quote was from Cardno at a not to exceed rate of $46,883 for the remaining 6-year of monitoring.

The commissioners approved Peters’ recommendation of Cardno.

County Attorney Jim Clevenger reviewed the LPA consulting contracts with USI Consultants for bridge #87 on 11th Road at the Yellow River it is not to exceed $188.   Bridge #120 on South Upas Road over the Yellow River isn’t to exceed $215.00.   The county is waiting on the paperwork to be signed by INDOT before moving forward with the project.

Superintendent Peters told the commissioners they have had a pre-construction meeting over bridges #5 and #9.  Bridge #5 on Tamarack Road north of 1st Road is ready for construction. There’s a discrepancy on the location of the NIPSCO gas line on bridge #9 on Queen Road north of 1st Road.  He said NIPSCO is finally in the process of moving the gas line this week.  After that construction should be able to get underway. Peters told NIPSCO the plan was to have both bridges completed by November but they have caused a delay in the plan.
