Plymouth girls pick up big NLC win
PLYMOUTH – Plymouth’s girls soccer team came away with a key 5-1 NLC win over Northridge.
Plymouth’s first goal came at the 20-minute marker off a free kick by Aubrey Vervynckt who bent it around the wall and into the far side netting.
Lindsay Janus scored in the 25th minute from an assist from Amber Schrameyer.
A minute and 27 seconds into the second half Aubrey Vervynckt got her second goal of the day. Lindsay Janus got her second goal from an assist from Madison Stiles in the 47th minute.
Lindsay was on the far wing and took a long shot that curved in at the last second to hit back post side netting. Northridge countered in the 51st minute on a quick counter-attack and break away.
To finish the game in the 67th minute Aubrey Vervynckt gets her hat trick by flicking the ball in off of a flip throw-in from Claudia Marohn.
Plymouth played composed and worked together all over the field to get the outcome.
Plymouth out shot Northridge 21-4; Plymouth had 16 of those shots on goal and Northridge had all 4 shots on goal.
Plymouth’s JV pulled out a big 2-0 victory against Northridge’s JV team. Tallie Hundt scored the first goal in the first half to put Plymouth ahead, and Tallulah Gault scored the second on a rebound to secure the win.
Plymouth is in action again on Saturday at home against John Glenn. It is a varsity only match with a start time at 6 p.m.
Plymouth’s varsity is now 7-1 overall; 2-1 NLC play.
