Plymouth takes win over NorthWood
PLYMOUTH — Plymouth’s tennis team grabbed a big pulled out an NLC win over reigning NLC champ NorthWood 3-2.
At #2 doubles Plymouth’s team of Liam Fort-Logan Sniadecki pulled out a close straight set win. Up 4-3, they finished off the first set 6-3 with several volley and overhead winners. Trailing 6-5 in the second, they were able to secure the next game and then play several solid points in the tiebreaker.
At #1 doubles the team of Matt Manzuk-Easton Strain led most of the first set before falling 7-5, but recovered nicely to secure a three-set win.
“They were relentless in getting to the net throughout the second and third sets,” said coach Brad Haeck. “They showed great hands at times, moved forward well to volley and finish off points, and came up with some timely first serves.”
With the team score tied 2-2, Carter Snyder at #3 singles was the final varsity match on court. Carter trailed 3-2 in the final set before winning the final four games to secure his win and the 3-2 team win.
