Bremen, Plymouth swimmers compete at Wawasee
SYRACUSE — The Plymouth and Plymouth swim teams competed in the seven-team Wawasee Invitational on Saturday.
The Pilgrim Girls finished in 5th place scoring 116 points while the Pilgrim Boys finished 7th scoring 90 points. Bremen’s girls were 7th with 91 and the boys took second with 267 points.
Claudia Marohn had the highest place for the Pilgrims competing in the Diving event. She finished in 3rd place. Graci Holm had a 5th and 6th place finish in the 100 Backstroke and the 200 IM. Marley Houin also scored a 5th and 6th place in the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Fly. The 400 Freestyle Relay team finished in 4th place. The team consisted of Houin, Holm, Raven Gritton, and Rachel Jacobs. The 200 Medley Relay team also finished 4th. The team had Lizzy Bacon, Houin, Holm, and Bacon.
Hugh Smith finished 6th in the 50 Freestyle and 4th in the 100-yard Breaststroke for the boys. Sean Janda finished 5th in Diving. The 200 yard Medley Relay team finished 5th. Swimming was Cam Riddle, Smith, Korey Kopetski, and Jackson Bougher.
Kailey Simmons recorded the only event win for the Bremen girls. Simmons won the 200 free in a time of 2:05.56.
Raven White (diving), Caroline Fish (100 Free), Megan Wyly (100 Free), and Lili Kellou (100 Breaststroke, 200 IM) all recorded personal records.
The boys swim and dive team finished second at the Wawasee invite on Saturday afternoon. Individuals to win two individual events each were Beck Brurok (200 IM, 100 Breaststroke), Anders Brurok (200 Free, 500 Free), and Luke Becker (100 Fly, 100 Backstroke).
The boys 200 medley relay team of A. Brurok, B. Brurok, Becker, and Bryce Wogomon combined for a first-place finish with a time of 1:44.95.
B. Brurok, A. Brurok, Wogomon, and Becker combined for a win in the boys 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.96.
Six personal records were also set by the boys’ team. Athletes to go best times include Al Byrd (100 Free), Jacob Fish (100 Free), Sam Fish (100 Free), James Wordleman (50 free, 100 Breaststroke), and Kody Zbieranksi (50 Free).
