Riverside opens with wins
WALKERTON — The fifth grade boys basketball team traveled to Walkerton on Thursday to open their season and came home with a pair of victories.
In the “A” game, great team defense was played as well as moving the ball on offense and in transition lead to a 37-6 victory for the boys.
Lance Edison led all scorers with 11 points while Aiden Sampson chipped in 10. Defensive MVP’s for the game were Lance Edison, Aiden Samson, and Ben Shively.
In the “B” game, the boys stepped up their defensive game and also moved the ball well on offense to lead to a 32-0 victory.
A balanced scoring attack was led by Josh Gibbons and Brody Shortt with 6 a piece, while Isaak Hutchinson added 5, Chase Bowling had 4, and Davis Jones had 3. Defensive MVP’s for the game were Isaak Hutchinson and Josh Gibbons.
Both teams are in action at home on Monday starting with a “A” game at 5 p.m.
