On Friday, May 17th, about 7:30 in the evening, Marshall County Police were dispatched to the area of US 6 and Quince Road for a motorcycle accident.

Officers located a motorcycle and a moped on the side of US 6 with two male subjects identified as the operators.

An investigation by Officer Wozniak revealed that both drivers were intoxicated.  

MugShot_joseph houstonThe driver of the moped, 62 year old Joseph S. Houston of LaPaz tested to be over two times the legal limit of alcohol. He was taken to the Marshall County Jail for operating a vehicle with a BAC of .15 or more, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering and resisting law enforcement.

MugSot_derrik singleton 5-17-19The driver of the motorcycle, 22 year old Derrik J. Singleton of Knox tested to be over three times the legal limit of alcohol. He was taken to the jail for operating a vehicle with a BAC of .15 or more and operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering.

 

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
