Commissioners Updated on Hickory Road Bridge & Wetland Mitigation

On Monday, Zack Dean from D.L.Z. updated the Marshall County Commissioners on the Hickory Road Bridge replacement and wetland mitigation project.

Grand River Construction has completed the remaining punch list items for the bridge.  Dean said a partial acceptance of the bridge was given to Grand River on October 4^th.

On October 15^th H.R.P. Construction from South Bend completed all the site grading work for the mitigation site at the end of South Plum Street.   Once completed Cardno came out and seeded the site on October 27^th.

Dean said Slusser’s Green Thumb from South Bend is waiting for the new mitigation area to dry out a bit before they begin the planting process.  There are 900 trees and 200 shrubs to be planted in the mitigation wetland site by the November 16^th deadline.

Dean noted that INDOT has inspected and accepted all the plants for the project.

The question now is the weather.  Dean said he will talk with INDOT if it’s looking like the plants won’t get planted by the deadline to see about a time extension.
