On January 10th the Shady Rest Advisory Committee held a public outreach session to hear from neighbors who live close to the facility and to hear from county residents interested in seeing a residential drug rehab facility locate in Shady Rest. Over 100 citizens attended the 90 minute session and the overwhelming response was that the facility was needed but those living nearby would like to see it located somewhere else.
A petition was also submitted to the committee with more than 60 names opposed to the Shady Rest location.
Last week Marshall County Commissioner Kurt Garner and Chairman of the Shady Rest Advisory Committee said their next meeting date has been selected. The next meeting will be on Thursday, February 1st at 2 p.m. in the Commissioner’s meeting room on the 2nd floor of the County Building. The meeting is open to the public.
