Marshall County Museum_front viewWith somewhat of an emergency, the County’s Building and Grounds Department told the County Commissioners the fire monitoring and suppression system in the Marshall County Museum crashed last week.

The system covers all three buildings downtown and is old enough that it’s outdated and needs to be replaced.  A replacement system from Nobi Security and Fire is $5,935.

County Commissioner Kurt Garner said he hadn’t spoken to Museum Director Linda Rippy but he believes they have funds available to cover the cost of a new system using reimbursement money from a federal grant.  He said they have approximately $16,000 available.

The commissioners asked Building and Grounds to cover the cost of the replacement system now so that it can be installed this week and then seek a reimbursement from the Museum for the total cost through the council next month.
