golf cartMarshall County has an ordinance for golf carts on public road that was passed in August 2012.

A golf cart may be operated on any County road that has a 35 miles per hour speed limit or less.  All golf carts can only be driven on County roads during daylight hours, from dawn to dusk.  The must display a red or amber flashing light at times when headlights are necessary for other motor vehicles.  The light must be visible from a distance of no less than 500 feet from the rear of the golf cart.  If the golf cart is operated at a time when weather conditions make it necessary for headlights to be used, the golf cart must be equipped with both headlights and tail lights that are in working order.

Anyone operating a golf cart on a county road in Marshall County must abide by all State of Indiana traffic laws and be a licensed driver.

While in operation, a golf cart must carry no more passengers than it is designed to carry and all passengers are to be seated at all times.

Anyone violating any provisions of the County’s Golf Cart Ordinance at this time, shall be subject to a fine of $25 for the first violation, $50 for the second violation and $100 for a third violation. A violation of the ordinance governing the use of golf carts on a State highway in Marshall County will be considered an ordinance violation rather than a Class C infraction with an ordinance violation fine of up to $100.
