CrashInvestigationA driver who swerved to miss a deer on US 31 was slightly injured Tuesday morning.

Marshall County Police Officer Ryan Hollopeter was dispatched to the south bound lanes of US 31 just north of US 30 about 3 o’clock in the morning.

The driver of the 2007 Ford Fusion, 30 year old Stephanie J. Gordon said she swerved to miss a deer and in doing so lost control of her vehicle.  Gordon’s vehicle struck the guard rail on west side of southbound lanes of U.S. 31.  The vehicle then traveled back across the southbound lanes and came to rest in the cable barrier of the grass median.

Ms. Gordon complained of pain to her neck and left wrist.  Plymouth EMS and Fire responded to the scene and transported her to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.

Through the investigation, it was determined that alcohol was a factor in the cause of the collision.
