PLYMOUTH – The Emergency Forklift Service’s Plymouth 10u team bested Fairfield on Saturday night, dominating the Falcons on both the mound and at the plate. When the dust settled, it was the Pilgrims claiming victory 1-7.

Preston Wolfe took the ball for Big Red, easily retiring the side, recording two strikeouts in the top of the first. The Pilgrim hitters came out quickly with walks by Jak Chaney, Malachi Sieh. A single by Preston Jessen loaded the bases. After a Caleb Bowling fielder’s choice RBI and a Jack Christiansen hit-by-pitch, the bases were again jam packed with Pilgrims. Trey Delp would walk in an RBI as Plymouth concluded the bottom of the first up 0-2.

Plymouth bats awoke again in the third inning, this time off a RBI single by Wolfe. They would score another run on Bowling’s laser beam to shortstop, finishing the bottom of the third up 0-4.

Fair field would get on the board in the top of the fourth scoring on a Dalton groundout to first base. It would be their only run of the game.

Big Red would put another crooked number up, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth. The inning started with another Sieh walk, followed by Jessen’s second hit of the game. Sieh would eventually score on a Wolfe fielder’s choice RBI. After advancing two bases, Wolfe would score on Bowling’s third RBI of the night. Bowling would wait one pitch then take second base on a passed ball; a bad throw would eventually have Bowling stealing home for Plymouth’s seventh and final run.

Preston Wolfe earned the win for Big Red; he pitched three innings, giving up zero runs on four hits, while striking out six batters. In relief, Jak Chaney collected his second save of the season, pitching three innings, giving up one run on one hit, striking out three. In this contest, pitching and defense was the name of the game; the Falcons had little chance with Plymouth trotting out a locked-in Wolfe and Chaney. The pitching duo combined to throw more than 60% of their pitches for strikes, fanning half of the batters they faced.

The Pilgrims continued to work at the plate with another good game from the top half of their lineup. Jak Chaney lead-off going 1-2 with a walk, hit and two runs scored. Malachi Sieh, hitting second, collected three walks, scoring twice. Preston Jessen continued his multi-hit game streak with two base hits and a run scored. Cleaning up the table setters were Preston Wolfe hitting third with a hit, two RBIs and a run scored and Caleb Bowling, adding two hits, three RBIs and a run scored.
