Water Street_1Monday evening the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety approved a parking restriction for Water Street.

A request to limit parking to two hours on the west side of Water Street between Garro and Washington Streets was made by Pam Mahler Lee who owns Wellness 101 on Garro Street.  In her request she said city employees and business owners and employees from the Michigan Street area are parking there all day.  This forces her customers to park further from her business and have to walk farther.

While parking is already restricted to 2 hours on the east side of the street, it’s not on the west side.

Emanuel Reese from Reese Family Ribs on Water Street also spoke in favor of the restriction, noting that his customers have trouble finding parking spaces.

Water Street_2Jeanine Xaver told the Board of Works and Safety that some of her staff park in the city lot while others do park on Water Street.

City Councilman Bill Walters told the board he stopped by to talk with Ms. Lee and saw firsthand the issues with people parking all day on the other side of the street.

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety unanimously voted to put a 2 hour parking restriction on the west side of Water Street between Garro and Washington Streets.
