Special meetingThe Marshall County Council has called a special meeting for on Tuesday, November 29 at 9:00 a.m. in the second floor meeting room of the County Building

The council is expected to revisit the salaries of a few county department heads that may need to be paid overtime with the new federal regulations.  At their meeting earlier this month the council decided to take a wait and see attitude paying overtime in 2017 if necessary.

Just 10 days before the implementation date of December 1st, a federal judge put the brakes on the Department of Labor’s new federal overtime rule, which would have doubled the Fair Labor Standards Act’s salary threshold for exemption from overtime pay.

It’s uncertain what action the County Council will take on the prior decision as it relates to this issue.

Council members will also consider a request to transfer CASA grant funds.

The special County Council meeting is open to the public.
