American Red Cross_new logoThe American Red Cross is partnering with Nexcare Bandages and supermodel Niki Taylor to urge eligible blood and platelet donors to give this June in honor of World Blood Donor Day on June 14.

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs a lifesaving blood transfusion. The Red Cross must collect approximately 14,000 blood donations every day to meet the needs of patients at 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide.

Donors of all blood types are currently needed.

Those who come to donate with the Red Cross in Indiana-Ohio Region now through July 31 can receive access to purchase Indiana Beach tickets at a reduced rate. Details at redcrossblood.org/indianaohio.

Upcoming blood donation opportunities in Marshall County are  June 15th in Bremen at St. Isidore Hall, 803 W. Bike St. from 11:30 a.m. Till 5:30 p.m. On June 16th you can donated blood in Plymouth at the Knights of Columbus, 901 East Jefferson St. from 11:30 a.m. Until 5:30 p.m. Another Red Cross Blood Drive will beheld at the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department at 1499 North Pioneer Drive on June 28th from 2:30 p.m. till 6:30 p.m. And on June 30th in Culver at the Culver Union Township Public Library at 107 North Main Street from 12 noon till 5 p.m.

In Starke County you can donated blood on June 13th at IU Health Starke Hospital in Knox from 3 until 6 p.m. And on June 28th from 12:30 p.m. To 6 p.m. At the Knox Community Center, 55 East Lake Street

A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Blood donors can now save time at their next donation by using RapidPass to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online, on the day of their donation, prior to arriving at the blood drive.
