Election Results2With 5, 811 registered voters in the City of Plymouth and 2,906 in Bremen Tuesday’s voter turnout was disappointing.

On Monday the Election Board certified the absentee votes at 179 but on Tuesday when the votes were opened and counted, 10 of those ballots could not be used so the absentee ballots were only 169 added to the 577 machine votes meant only 746 citizens voted well under 10% voter turnout.

May Primary_sueThere were three races we watched at WTCA, the Democratic race for Plymouth Mayor, the Republican race for the three at large seats on the Plymouth City Council and the Bremen Town Council race where six candidates on the Republican ticket were out to fill four seats.

The Democrats slated Rex Crump and Tony Gamble as candidates in the Primary for Mayor of the City of Plymouth.  When the votes were tallied Rex Crump was victorious with 153 votes to Gambles 73 votes.  Crump will face incumbent Mayor Mark Senter in the fall.

May Primary_Dave HolmesThe Republicans in the City of Plymouth only had one race to vote for, the three at-large seats where four candidates were on the ballot.  Incumbent Mike Delp led the pack with 234 votes.  The challengers, Bill Walters ended the evening with 211 votes and Burke Richeson received 166 votes.  The fourth place finisher was Christopher Berdahl with 151 votes.  The three republicans, Mike Delp, Bill Walters and Burke Richeson will face Gary Cook, Jeffery Houin and Josh Walker on the democratic ticket in the November General Election.

May Primary_Greg ComptonThe other race in the county was for the Bremen Town Board where the four incumbents, were being challenged by two additional candidates.  The results from Tuesday night ended with three of the incumbents winning and one challenger.  The republicans for the four Bremen Town Council seats will be challenger Bill Daily with 135 votes, incumbent Michael Leman with 121 votes, incumbent James Leeper with 120 votes and incumbent Rick Garverson with 106 votes.  Incumbent Heath Thornton only received 100 votes as did the second challenger Mike Venable.
