BMVINDIANAPOLIS – Commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), Kent Abernathy, is reminding Hoosiers to register their Motor Driven Cycles (MDC), commonly referred to as scooters or mopeds, in order to be in compliance with the new law which went into effect Jan. 1, 2015.

The law divides MDCs into two classes and requires registration, credentials and an endorsement. As of mid-April, the BMV has registered nearly 9,000 MDCs.

“As the weather gets nicer, we expect more people to begin taking their MDCs out for a ride,” said Commissioner Abernathy. “All MDCs should be registered as soon as possible so we can keep our roadways safe for everyone.”
