LaPorte’s Lady Slicers took a 15-4 win on Saturday at Plymouth.

Laporte plated one run in the bottom of the 1st inning to take the first lead of the game, but Plymouth fought back in the 2nd inning to steal the lead. Jillian Smith started the inning with a single and Mimi Southwell put the ball in play to advance Smith to second.  Mackenzie Derifield earned a walk and took 2nd as Smith caught the defense sleeping and stole 3rd. Ashley Shepperd came through with a clutch 2 out hit as she dropped a double right in shallow left field. She was thrown out trying to take 3rd, but momentum had shifted in favor of Plymouth.

The bottom half of the 2nd inning proved to be the achilles heel for Plymouth as they got 2 outs early but struggled to get the 3rd out. Laporte scored 14 runs in that half inning.

In the 5th inning, Plymouth made another effort to compete as they had bases loaded and walked away with 2 runs in the inning. In the coming week, Plymouth has 5 games all away, facing South Bend Riley on Monday.
