catsThanks to the generosity of the Plymouth Park Board the “Neuter Scooter” will be n the community monthly to provide low cost surgery to fix cats.

During Monday’s park board meeting members were presented with a letter from Nancy Cox, Director of the Marshall County Humane Society. In the letter she states, “As you all know, the city and county are being overrun by stray and feral cats. This has caused much concern for the citizens of our communities.”

Cox asked for the donation of a climate controlled building, possibly the Webster Recreation Center or the Conservation Club House on a monthly basis to allow the Neuter Scooter to come into the community and help give low cost surgeries to those cat owners who need it. She noted, “The shelter used to have them monthly and the number of cats and kittens that were being dumped at the shelter dramatically dropped.”

New state regulations say they can’t operate in a shelter environment because of the health risk to their own animals.

Neuter Scooter will spay or neuter tame cats for $50 and feral cats for $20.

Cox said, “This is our chance to work together and clean this county up without having to put hundreds of these innocent creatures to sleep.”

Park board member, Laura Mann is the mayor’s assistant and said we get at least one complaint a week on stray and feral cats.

The Plymouth park board unanimously approved a trial period of 3 months to the Marshall County Humane Society.
