PLYMOUTH – A “problem” property in the city of Plymouth will be getting a facelift in the coming months.
The property at 400 E. Jefferson Street – where the Clark gasoline station was located for 50 plus years – had fallen into disrepair once the station ceased operations. The property was purchased by Iubal Michael but because of the previous owner owing more on the property than Michael paid transfer of title was delayed.
Michael also has had difficulty with cleaning up contamination and other issues at the site which he hopes to use as a combination mini-mart, food concession stand.
The property was placed on Mayor Mark Senter’s list for clean up as part of “Operation Bright Spot” and Michael appeared before the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety promising improvement and setting a timetable for that improvement.
Michael told the Board that problems with transfer of the title had prevented him from making as much progress on the property as he would have liked but saying he would “…do whatever it takes…” to bring the property up to standard. He said he was hoping to have the property repaired and in use as a small business by August.
The Board tabled any action on demolition of the property until their first meeting in August – Aug. 11 – to allow Michael to clean up the property.
