12/15/13 On Sunday, November 17th, two members of the Plymouth High School Band performed with the Indiana Bandmasters Association’s annual “All-District Honor Band.”

This band is comprised of students from around the state that audition through an application process and band director recommendation.   Once accepted into the honor band, students spend several weeks working individually on selected music.  On Saturday, November 16th, nearly one hundred students representing close to thirty schools came together for a full day of rehearsals with guest conductor Glenn Northern.  Mr. Northern is the director of bands at Penn High School in Mishawaka.

The students chosen from the Plymouth High School Band that earned a position in this honor band were sophomores Will Houser (percussion) and Sarah Tanner (alto saxophone).  Both students are highly active in the music programs at Plymouth High School and participate in numerous different ensembles within the music program.

“This is a prestigious ensemble to be able to perform with,” said Plymouth band director Bryan Ames.   “These students had to work hard to prepare for this event.   Sarah Tanner was also a featured soloist playing piano for the band in a selection that required a solo piano part.  Sarah stepped up and volunteered to be the piano player for the event as well as learning her saxophone music.”

Congratulations to both students on their accomplishments and for representing Plymouth High School in this state honor band.
